Reconstruction of

Dakar Tashi Gompa

Sherpaland, Nepal

The Gompa was destroyed by the earthquake in April / May 2015 and is now to be rebuild

Overview plan of the new Gompa

DaKar Tashi Gompa was founded by Chib Tar Sherpa in the 17th/18th century in the valley of the village Ripal in the Lower Solokhumbu (District Okhaldhunga) at an altitude of around 2500 m, the region below Mt. Everest – Chomu Lungma. The last heavy earth quake in Nepal (25th April and 12th May 2015) nearly completely destroyed the old monastery. The village community of Ripal asked the Nepal Himalaya Sherpa Foundation (NHSF) for their kind support and help to reconstruct the important Buddhist Himalaya Heritage. Lhakpa Gyalje Sherpa, the grand-grand-grand-grand son of Chib TarSherpa is the founder of the NHSF. For centuries now, the family lineage of L.G. Sherpa is very devoted and active to keep up the Himalaya Buddhism in the Sherpa Land and other places in the Nepal Himalayas and recently also in Germany, see Foundation Sowa Rigpa www.sowa-rigpa-de.org
